Billy McMillan
Minister of Teaching & Administration (Co-Lead)
As Minister of Teaching and Administration, I have the privilege of blending two things I love—helping people encounter God through Scripture and ensuring our church runs smoothly behind the scenes. On Sundays, I’m passionate about preaching and helping our teaching ministry draw people deeper into the story of Jesus. During the week, I oversee staff, budgets, and operations as a Certified Professional Accountant who enjoys bringing order out of chaos.
With degrees in Education and Divinity and over two decades of teaching at Alberta Bible College, I’m continually amazed at how Scripture can shape and renew lives. My deepest burden is for the “used-to-be’s”—those who used to be part of a church but were hurt or left feeling like they no longer belonged. I want our community to be a place where people can bring their real questions, honest doubts, and weary hearts, and still find space to walk with Jesus alongside others. More than anything, I hope our gatherings feel like a place of rest, renewal, and genuine belonging.

Jonathan Straker
Minister of Worship & Engagement (Co-Lead)
As Minister of Worship and Engagement, I have the joy of helping our church live out its calling as the body of Christ—worshiping together, caring for one another, and joining God’s mission in the world. On Sundays, I lead our times of worship and help weave together music, prayer, and Scripture so that we can listen and respond to God as a community. During the week, I spend part of my time walking with people through the joys and struggles of life and finding ways for our church to serve and connect with our neighbours.
With a background in English Literature and an M.Div. in Missions, I’m drawn to the beauty of story—especially the story of God that makes sense of our world intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. I trust Jesus because his story is the one that holds all others together. My hope is that our worship and community life help people experience that story for themselves: to know they are loved, to find belonging, and to join in God’s work of renewal in everyday life.
My prayer is that at the Calgary Church of Christ, you’ll find a community of people who love Jesus and are learning to become more like him; who practice life together—even when it’s hard; and who believe God is at work in the world around us and want to join him in it.

Ryan Carroll
Youth & Family Minister
As Youth and Family Minister, I have the privilege of working with our next generation and helping them build a practical, grounded faith. On Sundays, you’ll find me with our kids and students, teaching Scripture and leading our youth gatherings. During the week, my focus is on planning our programs, connecting with parents, and making sure our church is a consistent, safe environment for young people to grow. I love working with kids and supporting families as they navigate real life together.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Text and Family Studies, my goal is to teach the Bible in a way that connects with the actual challenges youth face today. I believe deeply in Jesus, and my core mission is to create safe spaces where students can come to know Him without any pretense. I want our youth ministry to be a place where teenagers can ask honest questions, form genuine friendships, and build a faith that holds up in the real world.
My hope is that at the Calgary Church of Christ, our youth and their families find a community that is authentic and deeply rooted in Christ. When I’m not working on upcoming programs, I’m usually spending time with my wife, Dayna, and our daughter. To unwind, I enjoy playing video games, watching football, or just hanging out with a good dog.
